What is Environmentally Friendly Landscaping?

Environmentally friendly landscaping sometimes referred to as natural or ecological landscaping consists of principles that revolve around balancing our needs and sense of beauty with those of nature- our ecosystems- because, in the long run, they are interrelated. These are some of the principles that St. Croix Valley Landscaping embraces:

1. Eco-Smart Designs-Whether you are starting from scratch or renovating an existing landscape, we have the expertise to assess your needs and develop a master plan with ecology in mind.
2. Create Practical Turf Areas-Reduce lawn areas to those needed for practical use.
3. Create Plant communities –Combining plants that work together with similar needs based on requirements for site conditions to minimize water and fertilizer. Use native plants where possible.
4. Improve Soil and Mulch-soil testing and improvements available
5. Maximize Water Use by irrigation efficiency, harvesting rainwater and installing rain gardens.
6. St. Croix Valley is continually striving to utilize earth friendly products whenever possible. As an example, in 2008 we started producing and using biodiesel in our equipment ( trucks, skid steer, backhoe and pick-ups).
